St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospital NHS Trust

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals is a busy acute Trust which provides a wide range of healthcare services to its patients in the boroughs of St Helens, Knowsley, Halton and parts of Liverpool. The Trust is spread across two main sites, Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital.

The Trust is one of the top performing NHS Trusts in the country. The only acute Trust across Cheshire and Merseyside to get the highest possible scores – Double Excellent – in the Healthcare Commission’s 2008 Annual Healthcheck.

The Trust is also the only one in the North West, and one of only five across the whole country – to get the highest ratings in the Hygiene Code, following a series of spot checks at hospitals throughout the UK.

The Trust opened the fantastic new St Helens Hospital in October 2008 on schedule and within budget. The purpose-designed hospital has a full range of outpatient clinics, a state-of-the-art diagnostic suite, expanded day case surgery suite and the most up-to-date, ultra clean operating theatres in the world.

The Trust has been one of the early implementers of the 18 Week Target and continues to meet and exceed Government performance targets.

One of the lowest infection rates in the country for Clostridium Difficile and MRSA.

Easy access, car parking and free courtesy bus.
